Healthy Goat Births

Spring 2011

Spring of 2011 brought several healthy goats. Each of our four does had between 2 and 4 kids without any issues or runts. This particular year we fed them Bermuda all winter and allowed them free access to the hay. Alfalfa is the hay most easily grown in our area and therefore, the least expensive. Most everyone uses it to feed their farm animals.

Don’t Bloat the Goat

When our goats are fed Alfalfa, they bloat easily. We could never allow them free access to it. I compare it to a child knowing when to stop eating sweets - it’s not going to happen.

Bermuda Choice

After this kid season, we decided that Bermuda was a healthy choice for happy growing little goaties - along with goats milk of course!
