Left, Right!
LH’s New Single
We are so excited to share with you our new single Left, Right! Writing, recording, and filming the music video was a great learning experience for all of us. Everyone worked hard interpreting what Bree had in her head. We had a few rough spots, but everyone was able to change.
Writing
Bree loves writing. She was trying to find a rhyming phrase for "when will you get that she's not right." Shae, who was in the room at the time, had just finished “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” by Rick Riordan. She must have had the character “Annabeth” on the brain as her eyes got real big and she said, “She wears armor into the fight!"
Recording
Recording was a bigger task than normal because we added Bryson and Shae to the mix. But, hey, “Can't never did nothing!” We love the challenge.
It was fun figuring out where to put Bryson and Shae. We wanted some deep voices in the background mocking what was going on in front, so the guys took on the challenge. It took several takes because we had no idea what it should sound like. Bree couldn't get low enough to give an example of what she was hearing in her head. But, as soon as Gary (Dad) came in and sang his part, it clicked for Bryson.
Shae took on the backups. We didn’t want to overwhelm her and indirectly discourage her from singing harmonies in the future. But, to our pleasant surprise, she put her nose to the grindstone and redid it untill it was absolutely perfect!
Garen worked his magic with all the lead guitar parts. We did not have to touch his track but to throw in some minor effects and adjust volume.
Filming
Shelly (Mom) filmed the music video. She did a great job! She caught us being silly and tromping around (which was fun). She's awesome!
We all had fun and learned a great deal.
