Reviving Cold & Stiff Goat Kid - At Home Treatment/Remedy
Slipping Away
In spring of 2011, we had a new born goat that slipped out of the sheltered area and away from
mom. The night temperature was not too cold here in the Southwest but the wind nearly blew the life out of the 2 day old kid. She was stiff and barely breathing. Her body was contorted and her neck was outstretched. We brought her into the house, wrapped her in a blanket. Using an eye dropper, we squeezed in a teaspoon of molasses to boost her blood sugar.
We quickly did some research on the internet and found this info: answers.yahoo.com/question/index...
Following Instructions
As instructed, we placed her in heated water just hot enough to touch. We kept her in the water until she began to move. We then pulled her out and piled on the towels.
She came back to life quickly. We knew the kid was doing well when she started to vigorously drink from a bottle. She still did not have any strength in her limbs. Lots of rest was needed from what she had been through.
Mom, I’m Home
By evening she started to stand. The next day she woke up hungry and curious. Within a few hours, she her legs began to work again. It was time to go back to mom.
We helped her get latched on and made sure the doe did not reject her. Luckily she did not have any problems.

Thankful :)
It’s times like these that I am thankful that someone took the time to post information like this on the internet. It saved our doeling. Thanks Garnet! :)
