At the beginning of May, our Eastern Wild Turkey, Tula, left to sit on a batch of infertile eggs. She was the only turkey we had. She did not return and we had decided she must of been eaten by a coyote.
To our pleasant surprise, she returned three months later. She was missing several feathers and had some red marks on her back but otherwise she is doing great.
She was back to her old self. She is very nice. She greeted us and hangs around us wherever we go.
While she was gone, we ordered a batch of Red Bourbon Turkeys. Fortunately they are still pretty small. Two of the males chase her to try to make her run off. Tula just jogs along until she tires them out. I’m sure in time they will come to love her too.
